Rating Traffic and Order Integration
Cerberus Rating Engine is also bundled with a flexible ordering management system. These can interact to incorporate ordering
information into traffic rating. The rating engine makes it possible to rate on several layers from the same CDR or to
produce a combined rating of several CDRs using mixed identifications for cross-referencing. Layers can then be used to
bill based on quality combined with volume, time, and size. Cerberus Rating Engine can also be adapted to new market rules
and regulations.
Rating Engine Modules
The rating system is divided into several tasks to enable us to provide more flexible systems.
All of these tasks can be used in combination, or separately.
Pre Rating Module
The Pre Rating module is a high-performance database layer abstraction engine that can make changes to
imported records. Typically, this would be data that needs to be computed before carrying out price rating.
This module reflects the flexibility we provide our clients in order to produce campaigns and develop complex
price plans to increase revenue.
Quick QA Analysis
QAA is a module that does a “test” rating to ensure that price plans are optimized. It uses algorithms to search
for gaps in the price plans. This is connected to the report engine that reports all findings. Several other QA steps
are taken to ensure the quality of all main ratings. Over time this module gains in confidence and boost subscriber
loyalty and sustain subscriber retention. Two of the biggest reasons for churn are erroneous invoices and calculations.
Special Charge Module
Charges can be made on several conditions. This module enables:
| • |
Peak on peak off (Day, night) rate |
| • |
Holiday, weekends rate |
| • |
Special day of week rate |
| • |
Geographical location rate (Tax exception) |
| • |
Campaign assignment rate |
| • |
Special rebate rates (math macros) |
| • |
Subscriber category rebates rates |
| • |
QOS rate |
| • |
Call clearing, bearer services rate |
In the past, we have also tailored solutions for operators on this level. To ensure quality, we also have straight
requirements for the operator on these tasks.
Subscriber Database QA
A rating is not successful unless there are zero-rated records left. This module reports A numbers that are missing in
the subscriber database but present in the records. It also does some light crosschecking to compute how many subscribers
in the records match the subscriber database.
Main Rating Module
One of our most advanced yet smallest modules, this can produce 1000 CDR ratings per second running on a small
enterprise server. The design and architecture used is based directly on the switching system utilized in the
telecom market for over 20 years. Tasking runs through all records, matching them to rules, and combines them
with subscriber databases, price plans, and rebate plans. It produces data that gets populated into a specific
rating database. This data can be configured to suit invoicing needs, or it can be exported to any other platform or vendor.
The database structure is the most advanced. This enables high-volume handling and support for rating of up to several
million subscribers. This module is written in ANSI C, but a KERNEL module can be loaded for even greater volume.
Report Engine Tasks
All operators today have very high reporting needs. This task collects data and writes this data to a
reporting database while all other tasks and ratings are being carried out. This enables us to generate
several reports such as:
| • |
ARPU |
| • |
Destination reporting and CDR logistics |
| • |
Possible churn warnings |
| • |
Provisioning reports, refill reports |
| • |
Network usage statistics |
| • |
Peak on, Peak off reporting |
| • |
Forecasting reports based on history |
| • |
Credit rate reporting (Medpaid) |
Reports are delivered via several protocols and in many different formats such as PDF, EXCEL, WORD, CSV and RTF. This
module is highly adaptable due to the various needs of the different operators and technologies.
Warehouse Logistics Engine
SIM card handling is essential for tracking purposes and in order to update warehouse data for logistics reasons.
This engine also extracts other data from the rating and delivers it to the provisioning module. It also invokes
important churn and fraud alarms. By allowing this task to report logistics as well, CFOs can forecast network traffic,
and focus on future budgets.
CRM Task
Being able to respond to your customers’ enquiries in real-time is important. All data collection,
computing and rating done by all the tasks is now viewable through our CRM interface. Best-of-Breed CRM and ASP
solutions ensure return on investment. Most importantly, having this information will certainly reduce call-center
workloads and average call-time requests.
Export Engine
At any point in this process, data and tables can be exported in different formats using several protocols.
We provide some generic export modules that are able to supply ordering data and invoice data in digital form.
Other provisioning exports can be pre-made.
