It all used to be so simple. Call detail records from a single switch were sent to a single billing system.
This is no longer the case, however. Instead of just collecting and rating call detail records, companies also
need to manage event details records (EDRs) of data, voice, video and Internet transactions. And carriers not
only have to manage their own growth, they must also accommodate growth in interconnect and settlement traffic
where records from several companies are channeled into one billing system. Current systems can’t keep up with these
volumes and market pressures. Pluto provides solutions:

MINOS Mediation Key Benefits
Today, MINOS mediates against the world largest network operators. MINOS Mediation is designed to mediate with several
types of data, ranging from wholesale XDR to Wireless TAP formats. MINOS Mediation is able to collect raw files from switches.
Pluto has first-class knowledge about switching equipment and this allows us to extend the billing system towards the centrals,
giving more flexible and reliable solutions that can react in real time. We designed our system to be flexible, as we know that
formats for collections tend to change over time.
MINOS Usage Area
MINOS Mediation modules collect, process and distribute data from circuit and packet-based networks, allowing mediation
of traditional telecom environments as well as IP-based environments. MINOS mediation is used by IP-only providers,
PSTN-only providers, mobile-only providers, as well as providers offering a full range of telecommunication services and products
(IP, traditional telephony, VoIP, IN, ATM/FR, cable, etc.). This can all be managed on a single mediation platform, avoiding
duplication of costs for multiple systems. MINOS also offers some unique features for mediating data across networks and
technologies and then collecting all data into new proprietary formats for support service bundling and other
products and services.
Scalability and Performance
MINOS Mediation is based on the 8-way symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) architecture. This allows support for millions
of subscribers in a single system. Pluto is committed to helping the telecommunications industry to increase the profitability
of new and existing services in order to achieve a rapid return on investment on new services and technology.
Convergent Capabilities
Mediation implemented correctly can be quite complex. Several problem issues occurring in the mediation logistics can result
in bad invoicing. This is why Pluto designed the MINOS Mediation System. MINOS Mediation Engine is able to converge part of
the collected data, to enable multifunctional billing methods. These features include:
| • |
Traffic usage rating |
| • |
Quality of service rating (QoS) |
| • |
Subscriptions-based rating |
| • |
Services based on traffic data rating |
| • |
Bundling of all possible ratings |
